Description:
This project was the first primary school to be built in Dublin’s North inner city since the foundation of the state. A tight brownfield site, with public housing on the main access road, required careful co-ordination of materials delivery and the development and implementation of a residents’ liaison network. The structure was a 3-story in-situ reinforced concrete frame with brick and rendered masonry cladding. Key elements were a rooftop play area, an assembly hall with sound attenuation wall detailing and curtain walling to the main stair enclosure. Unusual amongst Irish primary schools, the works also included a fully-fitted kitchen to cater for 200 pupils.
