Management of all construction waste shall be in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Department of the Environment, Regulations of the EU and the relevant Local Authority and the conditions of the particular Planning Permission.
General Site Procedures
1.0 Construction waste shall be minimised by:-
1.1 Control in ordering materials by quantity, quality and time considerations.
1.2 Care of materials on site by correct handling and storage.
1.3 Correct use of materials.
2.0 Construction & Demolition waste shall be segregated into :-
2.1 Concrete/concrete products which will be recycled through Roadstone Ltd.
2.2 Steel and non-ferrous metals which will be recycled through appropriate companies.
2.3 Other packaging wastes which shall be forwarded to a Licensed Re-Cycling centre.
2.4 Non-toxic soil which shall be transported to a licensed land fill by permit holdinghauliers.
2.5 Toxic and hazardous materials, which shall be handled and disposed strictly in accordance with the relevant regulations.
Sustainability
Collen Construction supports implementing a Sustainability Policy for the Construction Industry. NaturalBuilding Resources should be used efficiently. Attention to detail will minimise energy loss. Attention to the composition and source of the Building Materials must be persistent. In particular, chemicals or materials harmful to the Environment must be avoided. Timber should be “Certified Wood” from an FSC approved source.
Locally sourced materials must be used where possible to eliminate unnecessary transport activity.
Construction and demolition waste should be reused and recycled on a fit for purpose basis.
