4th of July 'Safety Thank You BBQ'

July 05, 2018

On the 4th of July at Pottery Road, Dun Laoghaire, Collen’s client kindly provided the opportunity to have a relaxing outdoor lunchtime break for all construction staff.  It was a“ Thank You BBQ” for the attention to safety by all on site.

Cliodhna McLoughlin quietly and efficiently flicked the switch which organised the BBQ for 220 construction operatives and staff. Somehow the bush telegraph got word or the sound of laughter spread and over 250 people attended. Special measures were called for and Tommy Drumm was shanghaied into cooking the 220 plus burgers. All Collen site management and the client’s management team helped serving out the burgers, corn on cob, hot dogs, jumbo sausages with ice cool drinks or just set up the tables and cleaning the bins etc.

Some brilliant appropriate BBQ music played away in the background and the chatting and laughter grew. Ice creams and some goodies including suncream, cupcakes, sun glasses and Collen baseball caps were handed out to all. There were a few prizes for people who had provided Good Save suggestions which included two tickets to the Michael Bublé concert in Croke Park.

Well done to the winner of Best Good Save, Ian Malone from Grange Roofing, who received two tickets to Michael Bublé. Ian is pictured above with Joe O'Dwyer (Health and Safety Manager), Michael Browne (General Manager Pharma Division) and Colleen Barker (H&S Officer).

And Congratulations to Best Good Save runner up, Patru Ilie Cirdei from Tilmons, who received some Collen merchandise. Patru is pictured above with Joe O'Dwyer (Health & Safety Manager) and Michael Browne (General Manager Pharma Division).

Before we knew it, the large mobile crane started up again and the teleporter moved into action. It was 2pm and all headed back to work. Grateful that we had a day like this and thanks to all the un-named people who helped.
