Key Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a related discipline, i.e., Civil/ Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or similar/ Alternatively Chartered Status, e.g., MCIOB

  • Conversant with Construction industry practices and procedures, including BCAR, Building Regulations andstatutory approvals processes

  • Good commercial acumen and analytical skills

  • Proficient in the use of tendering software. Experience with Microsoft Project and Asta Power Project essential,and with P6 an advantage

  • Experience in managing a multidisciplinary bid team

  • Strong Programming, technical writing and MS Office Skills

This is a Key Senior position in the Business, reporting to the Head of the BID Department and the New Business Director, in this head office-based role (East Wall, Dublin 3). The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Reviewing tender documentation and understanding the rules of tendering

  • Undertaking Bid/No Bid exercises against potential submissions

  • Understanding the Request for Tender, deciding timelines and responsibilities and delegation of same to a multidisciplinary team

  • Collating information from multi-departmental resources for inclusion in pre-qualification and tender submissions

  • Preparing high-quality and professional pre-qualification and tender submissions

  • Submitting completed bids to existing or prospective clients, on time and within budget

  • Timely management of tender activities; strong time management skills are essential for this role

  • Collaborating with the Business Development Department, Estimating Team and Operations Team

  • Preparing tender programmes utilising Microsoft Project or Asta Power project, identifying key deliverables and milestone dates

  • The candidate’s ability to critically analyse clients and our proposed bid programmes are essential for this role

  • Preparing detailed project methodologies and technical proposals

  • Preparing project-specific method statements

  • Preparing traffic management plans/preliminary contractor set-up proposals

  • Preparing project risks registers and mitigation plans is an essential skill

  • Adopting and executing quality control procedures

  • Consulting with the design team and sub-contractors as necessary, during the submission process

  • Ability to develop and deliver powerful, concise graphical technical presentations is essential

  • Attending tender interviews and site visits

  • Obtaining feedback from prospective clients when tenders are unsuccessful

  • Assisting with interviews and corresponding with prospective clients

  • Reviewing, drafting and implementing improvements in the Tendering Process

  • Providing insight and analyses of forthcoming opportunities, purchasers' mindsets, best practices and dealing with purchasers.

Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills are essential to this role and the ability to deliver professional presentations to clients and design team members and build relationships at all levels within the Company and the wider supply chain.
