Collen Inspires Future Engineers During Engineers Week 2025

In early March 2025, Collen proudly participated in Engineers Week, a nationwide initiative led by Engineers Ireland's STEPS programme designed to introduce primary and secondary school children to the diverse world of engineering.

Collen’s Conor Sludds and Stephen Foley MCIOB engaged with over 90 enthusiastic primary school students during visits to local schools, aiming to inspire the next generation of engineers.

At Oylegate National School, Conor introduced the Spaghetti and Marshmallow Tower Challenge, encouraging students to embrace creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving – resulting in some impressive structures. Meanwhile, at Scoil Pádraig Naofa, Courtnacuddy, Stephen led the Bridge Challenge, guiding students through hands-on learning experiences that showcased fundamental engineering concepts.

Engineers Week provides a valuable opportunity for our team to share their passion and demonstrate that STEM fields can be fun, creative and rewarding. Collen extends sincere thanks to all volunteers for their outstanding representation and for bringing engineering to life in our local schools.
