Package

Phase 1B site infrastructure

Over the next ten to fifteen years the campus is planned to evolve into a major science, innovation and technology destination.

Collen took a multi-phase delivery approach across the campus while maintaining operations. This work included site services, drainage, roads, paths and pavings and a new junction to Celbridge Road.

Collen has been appointed to deliver the Phase 1B site infrastructure package, enabling future development across the estate while maintaining a live operating campus.

Scope of works
  • Site services: Installation and upgrade of primary sitewide services to support phased development.

  • Drainage: New foul and surface water networks, attenuation and associated connections.

  • Roads, paths and pavings: Construction of new internal roads and footpaths, with associated kerbs, pavings and tie-ins.

  • Highway interface: Formation of a new junction to Celbridge Road, delivered in coordination with the relevant authorities.

  • Phased delivery: Works sequenced across multiple zones within the campus to align with ongoing operations and future plots.

Delivery approach

Operating within a live campus requires detailed planning, rigorous logistics and clear stakeholder communication. Collen’s approach includes:

  • Phasing and access management to segregate construction activities from daily campus movements.

  • Traffic and pedestrian management plans to maintain safe, legible routes at all times.

  • Stakeholder engagement with Kildare Innovation Campus representatives and third parties to coordinate interfaces and minimise disruption.

  • Design coordination and buildability reviews to align drawings with site conditions and optimise methodology.

Value delivered

During the tender period Collen undertook a detailed review of the design, identifying potential issues early and proposing feasible, buildable solutions. This process improved the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the final design and informed a robust delivery sequence for the live environment.

At Collen we combine careful planning, technical rigour and close collaboration to deliver enabling works that set the foundation for long-term development, supporting Construction Excellence since 1810.
